Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question we haven't answered? Reach out to us anytime.

The Grove is designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), autistic adults, and neurodivergent learners. Every class is built with diverse learners in mind: small groups so everyone is known by name, plain-language materials, sensory-aware spaces, and instructors with deep experience teaching neurodivergent adults.

Classes are also open to any adult who loves to learn. Self-Direction (IDGS) funding is accepted, subject to approval by your fiscal intermediary.

Yes. Classes at The Grove are intentionally designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), autistic adults, and neurodivergent learners. What that looks like in practice: small groups, predictable structure, multiple ways to participate (discussion, hands-on practice, or quiet observation), plain-language materials, and instructors with deep experience teaching neurodivergent adults.

We work with each learner individually on what helps them do their best work. If you have questions before registering — about a specific class, your needs, or your learner's needs — email us and we'll walk through it together.

Classes are held at our location at 1350 Avenue of the Americas, 2nd Floor, in Midtown Manhattan. Select classes include community excursions to museums, cultural institutions, and community sites throughout New York City. Some classes may also be offered online.

Classes range from $75 to $125 per session depending on the class. All materials are included. See our Classes page for specific pricing. We also offer bundle discounts: register for 4 or more sessions and save 10%, or register for 8 or more and save 20%.

Yes, The Grove accepts Self-Direction funding for IDGS-eligible classes, subject to approval by your fiscal intermediary. For every class, we provide published per-class rates, written class descriptions, attendance records, and itemized receipts — the documentation fiscal intermediaries require to approve community classes in a spending plan.

Final acceptance always goes through your fiscal intermediary. To request fiscal intermediary billing, choose that option at checkout, or email us before registering and we'll work through it with you and your Support Broker.

(IDGS = Individual Directed Goods and Services, the part of New York's Self-Direction program that funds community classes.)

Yes. Support persons and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are welcome at every class. They can participate alongside the learner or be present quietly — whichever works best for the learner's experience.

No separate registration or fee is needed for support persons or DSPs. If you have questions about a particular class or want to talk through logistics in advance, email us before registering and we'll walk through it together.

The Grove is a program of Big Apple Coaching LLC. All class registrations and payments are processed through Big Apple Coaching, so that's the name that will appear on your receipt and credit card statement.

Life happens. Let us know in advance if you can't make it. We can discuss make-up options or schedule adjustments.

Just yourself and your curiosity. All materials are included. You're welcome to bring your own laptop or tablet for digital skills classes, but devices are also provided.
